Telehealth FAQs
Therapy, Wherever You Feel Most at Ease
Online therapy can make it easier to receive support from a familiar, private space. Here are answers to the questions people most often ask before beginning.
Who can participate in telehealth therapy?
Coast to Valley provides online therapy for adults who are physically located in California at the time of each session.
How does a telehealth session work?
Sessions take place by secure video. You will receive information for joining your appointment and can connect from a private location using a computer, tablet, or phone.
What do I need for an online session?
You will need a device with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and a quiet, private space. Headphones are optional but can add privacy and improve sound quality.
Is telehealth confidential?
Reasonable safeguards and a secure platform are used to protect your privacy. Because no electronic communication is entirely risk-free, you will also be encouraged to join from a private space and take steps that feel appropriate in your environment.
What happens if the technology stops working?
We will first try to reconnect. If that is not possible, we will use the backup plan discussed during intake or arrange another time to complete the session.
Can I join a session from my car?
A private indoor location is preferable. If a car is your only private option, it must be safely parked in a location where you can speak confidentially. Sessions cannot take place while you are driving.
What if I travel outside California?
Please let Dr. Nina know before you travel. Your physical location affects whether a session can legally take place, even if you normally live in California.
Is telehealth appropriate for an emergency?
No. Telehealth appointments and practice email are not emergency services. If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. For crisis support in the United States, call or text 988.
